EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Nydia and Ricardo’s reunion caught on tape!

November 20, 2009

TejanoBeat’s camera was the only one inside the Municipal Auditorium Friday afternoon when Ricardo Castillon of La Diferenzia and Nydia Rojas met to rehearse before tomorrow’s concert where they will sing the duet they made famous more than 10 years ago: “Hay Unos Ojos.”

The chemistry between the two – personally and vocally – is obvious.  They joked around and sang a few bars of “Hay Unos Ojos” as if they’d never been apart.  They were both so gracious with their time and took a few minutes for an interview before they got to work preparing for Saturday’s concert.

Check out the video and stay tuned for a more in-depth interview with Ricardo about his latest CD, the impact of the top-selling “Hay Unos Ojos” and future plans that could include more mariachi recordings with Nydia!

And, most importantly, buy your tickets for tomorrow’s concert and get all the latest details by going online to mariachimusic.com!

A BIG THANK YOU TO CYNTHIA MUNOZ AND RUBEN CUBILLOS!

Nydia and Ricardo juntos otra vez!

November 20, 2009

Tejano fans should be excited about Saturday’s Mariachi Vargas Concert at Municipal Auditorium. The show will feature the top mariachi group and wraps up a weeklong of events that showcase the beautiful Mexican tradition of mariachi music.

But Tejanos will be particularly interested in the return of Nydia Rojas and Ricardo Castillon who after 10 years will reunite on stage to perform “Hay Unos Ojos,” a song that took the Tejano industry by storm. Rojas and Castillon combined their voices in what at first seemed an unlikely pairing of a Tejano vocalist from La Pryor, Texas, with a mariachi singer from Whittier, California, but the song worked.
