I almost didn’t go to church today but as I was sitting in the last pew at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on the River Walk, who should walk in but Kobe Bryant? I’m serious. He’s a Catholic? I had no idea. Even though he was late, he got communion and he prayed afterward. The Spurs better watch out! I hope they all went to church today, too. They’re the good guys so I know they did.
I have to admit that Kobe was nice, signing autographs for little kids and although he did get to church late, it was refreshing to see him there. He had a little trainer-looking guy with him but no entourage.
See the little video I took of him with my flip camera. I’m such a dork! Of course I asked him to say hi to “Tejano Beat” but he completely ignored me. At least he didn’t push the camera away. Check it out:
Grammy-award winning La Mafia didn’t disappoint last night at SeaWorld San Antonio’s Viva La Musica. Lead vocalist Oscar De La Rosa almost didn’t make it on stage due to a back injury that kept him mostly immobile for more than three days. He had a backup plan on Sunday night and asked his friends, Los Palominos, to stand by: just in case.
Oscar and La Mafia made it through the night and treated fans to their oldies but goodies and their top hits like “Un Millon de Rosas,” “Me Estoy Enamorando” and “Si Tu Supieras.” Los Palominos did take the stage for a few songs.
Visit the MySpace site and click on the latest blog posting for more on the challenge that Oscar issued to A.B. Quintanilla and the Kumbia All Starz.
More is coming later today! Thanks to SeaWorld San Antonio and especially, Brian, for his help last night and to Letty and Arturo!
